Scent-Lok’s activated carbon garments fuse particles of activated charcoal within the fabric. These particles possess an enormous surface area that can attract and hold odor molecules within the pore structure. The carbon forms a low energy bond with the odor molecules, and continues to trap odors until the suit becomes saturated with the odor molecules. Heat from a household dryer helps break this bond, flushing out trapped odors. This frees up the carbon’s capacity for adsorption that could last about 40 hours of field use.
