January 15, 2009 - Today Scent-Lok Technologies announces their introduction of the all-new Vertigo series of gear. Scent-Lok Vertigo is a new patent-pending design concept developed by Scent-Lok Technologies that incorporates strategically placed panels with overall contrasting tones that improves the break-up of hunter’s silhouette at virtually any distance. Making Scent-Lok Vertigo an essential tool in the dedicated hunter’s arsenal.

Scent-Lok Vertigo is not a just another camo pattern, but it goes beyond. It is an exclusive design concept utilizing effective camo patterns from the Mossy Oak Break-Up family. Vertigo is photo real up-close, but has very large and highly contrasting lines well inside the normal body outline to obliterate the human form up-close and from a distance. These high contrast areas mimic the tree canopy and sky tones of a prime hunting morning or evening.

Vertigo solves what many hunters dubbed as the “black blob” effect in the field. Traditional garment designs with highly detailed camouflage looks photo-real up close; but as distances increase those areas begin to meld together creating a large, unnatural mass. Peripherally, this mass of a dark silhouette provides deer and other big-game with a visual clue that something is amiss and triggers them to investigate or to run.

However, the large sections of dark on light panels of the Scent-Lok Vertigo products remain intact at distances providing a type of “visual confusion” that game will nearly ignore. In addition, the scent-control technology reduces the odor signature to below levels that can alarm big-game. This one-two punch takes the Scent-Lok Vertigo to the limits of stealth in the field.

Here you can see the new Scent-Lok Vertigo system compared to standard designs. As you can see, the Scent-Lok Vertigo system virtually  destroys the peripheral human silhouette signature.

The new Scent-Lok Vertigo System is constructed with a tricot outer shell with a DWR treatment to repel water, and laminated to a shell that is a waterproof membrane and lined with a mid-season fleece. Is is ultra quiet and will handle most weather for deer hunters. Is is not insulated, so hunters will get a lot of flexibility regarding temperature.

In addition, we have created a “positive” and “negative” version to accommodate each customers’ demands. The “positive” version has a darker center to blend to the mass of a tree trunk, while the lighter, contrasting extremities echo the look of surrounding branches. The “negative” version is the opposite and works great for locations that have less massive trees and echos the look of a more open tree canopy. Stores will be stocked with a mixture of both so customers can decide at the point of purchase as to which version would be best.

The new Scent-Lok Vertigo system will be hitting store shelves by mid-June and will be $370 for our three piece suit.
